Wikipedia says that the US ranks first in rail use for freight (in both tonne-kilometers and tonne-kilometers per capita) but 30th in passenger use. The metric system isn't even used that much here, so it's kind of amazing that we ship more in metric units than countries where that's the offical system of measurement. :) It's also sad that there isn't more passenger rail here.
